Have you had a bad experience with LASIK surgery?

Filed under: Lasik Surgery Q&A — admin @ 5:56 pm
PurrfectPeach asked:

I am quite near-sighted and have worn glasses (now contacts) since childhood. I had planned to get LASIK as soon as my Rx became stable. Recently I came across some Web sites made by LASIK “victims” who claim to have had some terrible, permanent side effects (dry eye, double vision). Anyone here had a similar experience, or know someone who has?
Thanks Pedestal42, if you can give me a link to that study (or let me know who conducted and published it), that would be great.

As of 2 years ago, Lasik did not have the equipment to treat eyes with large pupils. Has this changed?

usmousie asked:

I knew an eye surgeon (cute but my friend’s bf) and he explained to me that Lasik machinery had only been made to operate on normal/average eyes. He said that once the surgery becomes much more popular, it will be profitable for a company to design a system that can also work on (my) eyes with large pupils.

Obviously he knew what he was talking about, as a Lasik surgeon, but I am wondering whether since then this new equipment has been manufactured. Does anyone know?

Laser - Eye Surgery - lasik

bladeless lasik eye surgery
performed by Dr. Swati Singh at Laservue eye center in San Francisco
compare the video of this new intralase tecnology for flap creation to the other videos on this site. this way is much safer and (only) about $400 more per eye.

-Flap is made with new intralase technology. microscopic bubbles created at a certain depth into the cornea which is then easily pealed back.
-Then the flap is flipped back and cleaned.
-Next comes the laser correction followed by another cleaning and the flap is flipped back on.
-Healing process begins imediately.

patient: Evan Roth
age: 20
Laser: VISX STAR S4

(Dr. Swati Singh has performed over 10,000 surgeries since her board certification in 1999. give them a call and tell them Sean sent you… haha)

I have very poor vision and a very bad astigmatism. I seem to remember my optician telling me that it would not be a good candidate for Lasik? Can someone tell me why?

I am getting Lasik surgery on Thursday and was wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect the day of surgery? I’m not worried about the results, just want to know what will happen and what I should expect to experience? Thank you!

Lissa Lising of La Verne, CA goes in for LASIK eye surgery. The laser doesn’t go through just one layer of her cornea… it goes through all five.

Will lasik surgery hurt and permanently dry my eyes?

Filed under: Lasik Surgery Q&A — admin @ 12:14 pm
Ellen asked:

My eyes do not feel to dry when I wear my glasses. However I have a problem with wearing contacts because they dry my eyes out. I know having lasik will make them more dry at first but will they return to normal? I would like to hear someones positive experience, as I have already read the nightmare stories. And will the precedure hurt?

when will contrast sensitivity return to normal after lasik surgery?

Filed under: Lasik Surgery Q&A — admin @ 10:17 am
Spikeball Z asked:

I had lasik surgery three weeks ago and my ability to see contrast is still not as good as it was when I had glasses. TV shows in hi-def and regular-def look the same to me. Anyone has the same experience? When does it get better?
