How long should Lasik surgery results last?

Filed under: Lasik Surgery Q&A — admin @ 5:55 pm
ELAINE C asked:

I had Lasik 8 years ago…I was farsighted (not the norm) and they had just perfected the Lasik procedure for this type of vision. I had 20/10 vision afterwards, but at this point, I’m back to square one.

This medical animation depicts a LASIK procedure to correct near sightedness (myopia) of the eye. LASIK stands for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis and is a procedure that permanently changes the shape of the cornea, the clear covering over the front of the eye.

I can still see well but I mainly notice it when I am driving. I don’t seem to see the highway signs as fast as I usually did. Will it get better?

Can you wear contacts after you get LASIK surgery?

Filed under: Lasik Surgery Q&A — admin @ 7:44 am
Test asked:

If you get a Lasik surgery and you need to wear glasses again after a few years, can you wear contacts?
I know Lasik is supposed to give you 20/20 but I heard some people had to wear glasses again after a few years. probably because their vision at the time of Lasik wasn’t stable.

Does the flap ever heal after Lasik surgery?

Filed under: Lasik Surgery Q&A — admin @ 5:54 am
ron9baseball asked:

I have not found a definitive answer about this. Some people believe when the flap is put back in place, it simply rests there (hopefully forever) but it never actually grows back together. This would kind of make sense because if it did, I’d imagine there would be scarring - and I have to think scars would not be good for high quality vision?

Can anyone provide a source with a definitive answer?

Also, feel free to share your Lasik experience, bad or good, please.

Thank you.

Feel free to share what your loved ones went through when they had LASIK, too.

I have 20/20 vision in one eye, and the other is nearly perfect after two LASIK surgeries in it.

Is it possible to get better vision than 20/20 from lasik?

Filed under: Lasik Surgery Q&A — admin @ 5:22 am
SinnerAvarice asked:

My range-scores are starting to suffer due to degrading eyesight, and I’m considering getting a lasik treatment to correct it. My question is, is it at all possible to attain the eagle-eye that I had before my vision started degrading, or will it only go to 20/20? Is there any way for me to get my old 20/10 vision back?
