Lasik Eye Surgery in 6 Minutes

fundusfixer asked:

This is the Science Friday (National Public Radio) video about LASIK eye surgery. The funny thing about this video is that the narrator, who is probably also the producer, is a lot more nervous about LASIK laser vision correction than the patient himself. He is cool as a cucumber, I had LASIK myself, didn’t think it was a big deal and now I see fantastic. The video features Steven Vale, M.D., medical director of Acuity Laser Eye & Vision Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Dr. Vale is one of the most well-respected and experienced Lasik surgeons in the world. Dr. Vale has performed over 21,000 laser vision correction surgeries. Dr. Vale’s ability and experience really comes out in this otherwise realistic and detailed glimpse at the world of laser vision correction surgery.

Epi-LASIK Philadelphia: Advanced Surface Ablation in HD

Bladeless Epi-LASIK (EpiLASIK) can be performed on patients not qualifying for LASIK. This surgery is less vulnerable to trauma and no flap complications have been reported. Many feel contrast sensitivity is superior to LASIK and that Epi-LASIK does not produce as much dry eye or other visual disturbances. Dr. James Lewis has performed Epi-LASIK for several years with excellent results.

See lasikcomplications.com. 6 months after LASIK, 20% of patients have worse or significantly worse night vision and dryness complications from LASIK. The FDA study stopped at 6 months.

Had -7.50 on each eye, went smoothly, NO PAIN during or after and I see perfectly! Afterwards I felt as though I had a contact lense placed upside down in my eye for 8 hrs (uncomfortable I found, but NOT painful) some people may have had bad experiences but mine wasnt!

Laser - Eye Surgery - lasik

bladeless lasik eye surgery
performed by Dr. Swati Singh at Laservue eye center in San Francisco
compare the video of this new intralase tecnology for flap creation to the other videos on this site. this way is much safer and (only) about $400 more per eye.

-Flap is made with new intralase technology. microscopic bubbles created at a certain depth into the cornea which is then easily pealed back.
-Then the flap is flipped back and cleaned.
-Next comes the laser correction followed by another cleaning and the flap is flipped back on.
-Healing process begins imediately.

patient: Evan Roth
age: 20
Laser: VISX STAR S4

(Dr. Swati Singh has performed over 10,000 surgeries since her board certification in 1999. give them a call and tell them Sean sent you… haha)

Lissa Lising of La Verne, CA goes in for LASIK eye surgery. The laser doesn’t go through just one layer of her cornea… it goes through all five.
